NAPA VALLEY COUNSELING CENTER

Brainspotting (BSP)

Brainspotting (BSP) is a therapy treatment that resolves trauma and reaches inside the brain where trauma is stored. Talk therapy reaches the “Thinking part” or our brain, while Brainspotting uses fixed eye positions to activate the part of the brain where your trauma is stored. This part of the brain is not willed into existence or remembrance through the thinking brain. The clinician uses a pointer for the client to look at finding the brain spots where processing is trying to occur. This allows healing to take place on a neurobiological level and processing to occur. The symptoms of trauma are mental, physical, and even spiritual, so the breakthrough happens in the many areas that trauma affects. Making a safe, non-judgmental space for processing the hardest struggles this life brings is of key importance and highest priority to the provider.
